well it was quite a weekend for the end of things, and i say weekend in the JMU sense of the word, as in starting Thursday. terry schiavo died thursday. it was going to happen, her death sentence had been sealed, but still after all the coverage her situation was afforded it should be a big deal.
but i have to be honest, in my world her thunder was definitely stolen, and ended up being only a quiet mumble in the wake of a caucophonous explosion...when i heard that Mitch Hedberg had also died.
Mitch was supremely talented, He mumbled in a slowly spoken absurdist take on observational humor. And he connected with audiences due partly to his unassuming, everyday stoner attitude, along with the fact that he would nervously comment on his own jokes along with the audience. His material was as strong as his delivery was hilarious. With his timing, he could have told me my dog had given me herpes after humping me while i was sleeping, and I would have laughed until I cried.
Some people had compared Mitch's style to Steven Wright, to which Hedberg replied: "If I made potato chips and put them in a can, people would say I was ripping off Pringles," he said. "But what if I put them in a bag?"
And then of course, Pope John Paul II expired, which is not all that shocking, but still big news.
But let's not dwell on the ends, like any human comedy, there will inevitably be ends to the beginnings. and beginnings of the ends. and like any teen comedy, there will be girls who are less than fully clothed.

Friday night was the 3rd Annual 1589 Bikini Oil Wrestling Extravangza, a night that always promises big crowds, big action and big erections. This was to be the final BOWE to be held at 1589, unless of course the network calls in 10 years for a comeback reunion special...but again lets not dwell on the negative. Let's dwell on the memories
