It's that time of year again, the point when summer is officially over, when the Yankees have been eliminated from the ALDS, when the NJ air gets crisper and cooler, when I become more introspective yet somewhat restless and return to the website with creative plans and big promises. Very cyclical, very patterned, very predictable. Regardless of past returns, let's try to create some new results.
I'm not sure if other twentysomethings, a few years removed from school and now in the workforce, experience a similar autumn emotion, a minor but noticeable oddness or discomfort like something is missing. I suppose it's unavoidable to be slightly let down now that the fast-pace, sun on your face, lets live life outside, fun of summer has wound down. And perhaps I'm anticipating the dreary drudgery of the upcoming winter. But in theory I really enjoy what the fall season brings: cool air, colorful foliage, football and playoff baseball, what's not to enjoy?
But I am wondering if perhaps this uneasy feeling might be a result of having been conditioned for so many years to feel as though autumn was a new beginning. September had always been the fresh start of a new school year and now it's just another month, business as usual. After 20 some odd years of autumn rebirth, I figure you might feel something unsettling when nothing changes except the leaves.

I bought I Am America (And So Can You!) , Stephen Colbert's new book, yesterday and so far it's pretty funny.
If you are a fan of the The Colbert Report you should enjoy the read, but even though I'm only about a third of the way through, I have drawn the conclusion that on the funny-meter, it's only the second best Colbert book behind Wigfield .
Updating a Previous Report...
Since my last update was up for four months, oh boy was it really that long?, many of you may now hopefully be familiar with JMU-alumni and UK-Top 40 recording artist, Ross Copperman.
For those of you who now find yourself suffering from a case of RossCoppermania, he will be playing his first show back in the US on Wednesday October 17th 7pm at Kenny's Castaways in NYC and you should probably pack the house. | |
