Saw: Something Clever about a Dull Blade
When I see a movie on opening night, I almost feel obligated to tell you about it. I'm not a big fan of movie review posts, but consider this my community service for the week.

So the movie in question, in the spirit of Halloween approaching, was Saw. and yes :Was saw: like racecar is one of those dealie dealies.

i saw saw and you read read

I don't really watch too many horror slash thriller films because movies don't scare me, even though I give them specific instructions to do so. That's not to say that I don't scare easily, I mean I have one menacing shadow.

I won't give anything away, but if you've seen any of the trailers you've got the idea: psychopath. deadly games. danny glover.

Was Saw any good? No, well not really. Is Saw worth seeing? Yes, well yeah probably.

I will say this, that Saw was the most fun I've had at the movies this year, I will say that.

It still might scare you, at least when something jumps out from behind a corner you might jump as well. That personally isn't enough for me. Though I did appreciate a few times when the tension was building and you were bracing for a shock tactic, they would leave you hanging...cynical asshole, you think you know everything huh, not this time.

Saw has the potential to scare those who scare at that trite bump in the night, but more than anything it will most likely leave you amused. Rarely do you feel more in communion with an entire theater of people than when you can all rally behind the film, hoping for it to succeed, and laughing when it fails.

Or maybe it was just the happy atmosphere of the theater, and you'll go see it with 100 empty chairs and just hate it, and then me. See if I care Sucka.

Again, perhaps this was just at my theater, whose key demographic is raucous college kids, but the reception that Danny Glover got when he first appeared in the film was fantastic. Yells of Angels in the Outfield, Lethal Weapon, Gone Fishing and Operation Dumbo Drop (cannedjam) filled the theater.

The real downfall of the movie is the acting which was laughable, and laugh we did, hard and hearty. But I'm sure that kind of fear and desperation is tough to convey...even for an accomplished thespian as Cary Elwes (aka Westley from the Princess Bride and Robin Hood himself from Men In Tights)...and he was committed, down right in that shit, unrelenting, and unsuccessful.

I'm listening to a little rage and Killing in the Name Of just came on, and I feel it fits the situation. And as my pumpkin flavored rum drink is a bit low, thats the signal.

Well this update, like Saw, is subpar. And thankfully for you, over.
